February Beauty: My Great Hair All-Stars

With the big game coming up this weekend I decided to feature my current Great Hair All-Star List for this month’s beauty post. If you’re wondering what game I’m talking about, I’d  love to tell you but legally I don’t think I’m allowed to say the words without cutting a check to the NFL; but it rhymes with Duper Goal.

So what does hair have to do with the Big Game?? Nothing. But trust me when I say you want me blogging about football about as much as you want me blogging about politics (sorry… not sorry).

So here we have it… my Great Hair All-Stars and a bonus MVP pick!

  1. Turbie Twist TowelSeems gimmicky I know, but this little treasure has made my list of things I’m glad I tried. As a matter of fact, I have 3! So unlike a bulky bath towel, it’s small, absorbent, and stays put on your head.
  2. T3 Hair Dryers
Ladies, by a show of hands who’s husband/boyfriend makes a big deal out of you packing a hair dryer when there’s one already hanging on the bathroom wall at the hotel? Come on fellas, would you put mid-grade in a Porsche? Trust me here. Quality matters when it comes to hair styling tools. Not all hair dryers are created equal and T3 products are dominating the game right now! It’s lightweight, has 3 speeds, 3 temp settings, and a powerful cooling setting. Definitely worth the investment!
  3. Unite 7Seconds Condition Leave-in Spray My girl Alysha from Amore Hair Design introduced me to this brand a while back and I’m smitten! This conditioning spray is perfect for adding a ton of softness back into damaged hair without leaving it greasy or weighed down like a lot of leave in conditioners. And, it smells delicious!
  4. Boar and Nylon Bristle BrushLike a great hairdryer, a great brush can be a girl’s best friend. What I love about boar hair and nylon brushes is the incredible shine they provide. The one I have is from Bumble and Bumble but the link I provided is for a more reasonably priced version. This is one of those items, unlike the hairdryer, that you don’t have to make a big investment in. I also use a round Conair version that is great for creating volume at the roots while blowdrying.
  5. InStyler Max 2-Way Rotating Iron I’m definitely a less is more, keep it simple kind of girl, so when I first saw this gadget I was put off by it’s contraption-ish nature. But curiosity got the best of me and I bought it… for my daughter. It’s not right, I know. It’s like when my husband presented the whole family with a drone last Christmas. We are still not allowed to touch or stare too long at the thing. So anyway, basically the barrel rotates when you clamp down on your hair and the bristles brush the hair while you pull it through to the ends. The result is super soft, shiny hair that has a nice curve at the end as opposed to a stick straight edge.
  6. Conair Teasing BrushMy hair is super fine and goes flat pretty quickly after styling it, yet for some reason I’ve stayed away from teasing in fear of being two teases away from a bouffant disaster. However, I found that this particular teasing brush creates a softer version of your typical Snooki bump tease that I try to avoid. But the real magic happens when you use the brush along with my MVP pick:
  7. Unite Expanda Volume Root Energizer This my friends is my MVP! I’m going to have to make a little video to better illustrate how to use this stuff, but basically you want to section off hair at the top of your head and  gently squeeze the bottle while aiming it at your roots. The product itself is a super fine powder that expands in the hair to add lift and volume. After adding a little dusting, use your teasing brush to gently create volume to each section. This is hands down the best volumizing product I’ve ever used!

Have a great and safe “Big Game” Sunday everyone! Go Pats!

I use the turbine twists for years, and yes I have traveled with them too! I have been looking for a good brush though, so will give this one a try! Thanks for the recommendations.
