June Beauty Picks

I have a serious love affair with beauty products. It’s truly embarrassing how many different lotions and potions I have in my bathroom at any given time. My husband can get so frustrated trying to decipher what is acceptable for him to use in our shower. His cries of desperation can be heard throughout our house, “Can you just buy something that says soap on it? Nothing is ever what it says!” Day after day he stands over the bathroom counter hopelessly sifting through my beauty arsenal. I guess for him, it’s what I feel like when he sends me off to locate an allen wrench in his tool box… confused.

Anyway, I have a lot of the stuff, and am always on the hunt for more. Every month I’ll be sharing my most recent finds and old trusty companions.

Here are my beauty picks this month…

  1. Sephora Face Masks. Currently Sephora has 7 different kinds of these incredibly refreshing face masks. So far I’ve tried three and love them all! They smell amazing and leave your skin hydrated and plump!  Sephora Avocado Face Mask
  2. Buxom Mascara.  I’ve been using this one for years. Tried and true, this mascara is one of my favorites for it’s separating power. I can’t tell you how many different mascaras I have tried, all of them leaving me reaching for an earring post to separate through the clumpy mess. This one goes on smooth and clump free every time!Buxom Lash Mascara
  3. Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Spray. I stumbled upon this new product at Sephora a few weeks ago and fell in love! Just spray it on wet hair, blow dry, and curl. The result? Perfect beachy polished waves. It’s not as sticky as their traditional salt spray and has a bit of hold without leaving your hair crunchy. It’s perfect! My daughter has been flat ironing her hair after using it and I’ve noticed that it helps fight humidity as well (huge bonus). With summer upon us, this will be a definite staple in my daily routine!Bumble and Bumble Surf foam spray
  4. Dessange CC. This product is a life saver if, like me, you have highlights that tend to go brassy. I used to have to run to the salon for toner, but this bright purple cream is pure magic and does the job after 1 or 2 uses. Simply smooth through your hair after shampooing, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, and rinse. I skip the conditioner because I don’t feel like I need it, but some have said that its tends to dry their hair out a bit. If that’s the case I would recommend pairing it with a deep conditioning treatment. Just twice a week does the job of keeping my highlights bright and brass free! Dessange CC Brass Color Correcting Cream
  5. Supergoop.  Another summer must-have, Supergoop is my go to for total body sun protection for our entire family. Their dermatologic formula is great for sensitive skin and free of parabens and oxybenzone (both believed to be cancer causing ingredients included in many suncreens). I also love how light it feels on your skin…never greasy or sticky. I really recommend checking out their site to learn more about this amazing product.   Supergoop Sunscreen

Beauty Bonus: Drink up! Keeping hydrated is one of the easiest, yet most overlooked beauty tricks out there. Besides the obvious health benefits, drinking your daily fill helps to plump up your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I can always tell how dehydrated I am by just looking in the mirror. It’s amazing how not drinking enough water can show on your face, especially as you age, so do yourself a favor and keep H2O at the top of your beauty routine!

I so agree with keeping hydrated! A full bottle of wine a day may seem excessive but not when you look in the mirror and can’t see any wrinkles!! Oh wait.. Maybe I just can’t see…?

    Susie,
We can totally relate to the “Soap” issue and recently had a meltdown over it. My hubby claims he was bullied at work smelling like “a lily of the valley”!! I’m going for the mascara. Thanks!! Linda
